I get many postcard requests in the many departments of the Kelley School of Business. They are a great way to reach audiences like parents who are at home or students away from campus for the holidays. Events and program signups often require advanced consideration so the sooner and more often the audience can be notified the better chance they have to consider and prepare.
Each card is unique in content and what the desired outcome is the clients are looking for. For some it is to register for an event and for others it is to inform students of groups they can join that may be beneficial for their networking and career experiences. They all tell a different story and that makes them all interesting to create. Using Kelley’s extensive photo archive I can find cover images to make them interesting to look at, and use a mixture of branded and decorative fonts to make the front of the cards interesting so the audience continues to back to learn more. The back has some mailing rules to keep in mind including keeping important information away from the botton of the card and leaving space on the right for addresses and stamps. This space limitation can mean I have to work with clients to adjust content so it fits in the space and remains readable.
